During November 4-10, an International Monetary Fund delegation led by Mr. Björn Rotter was on a working visit to Turkmenistan. During the delegation’s staying in Ashgabat, representatives of the authoritative international organization held the meetings in the country’s ministries and agencies, as well as had meetings with representatives of the national parliament and private sector. The discussions were focused on the issues related to evaluation of the macroeconomic situation and Turkmenistan’s economy growth prospects.

On October 6, Turkmenistan traditionally marks a mournful date - Memorial Day. It is the day of honoring the heroes fallen on the battlefields of all wars, as well as the victims of the Ashgabat catastrophic earthquake of 1948. In the mournful ceremony of laying flowers to the Memorial complex «Halkhakydasy» President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part.

The Central Bank of Turkmenistan has issued the new modified specimen banknotes of 2014 in denominations of one, fifty and hundred manats. The innovation was undertaken to upgrade the security features and improve the visual elements of security of the national currency which was put into circulation on November 1, 1993.
The delegation of the International Monetary Fund visited the Turkmen capital on October 31 - November 7. Within the framework of the visit, the representatives of the largest financial structure held a number of meetings in the Turkmen Government, the ministries and departments, banking institutions.
The workshop brought together over 110 participants from 16 countries, including the delegation of 9 EAG Member States, US, UK, Belgium, Austria, France and a number of CIS countries, the President of the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF), the representatives of the FATF Secretariat and a number of specialized regional groups and international organisations, including the Counter-Terrorism Committee, OSCE, World Bank, the heads of financial intelligence units, the heads and specialists of law enforcement agencies and supervisory authorities of the Eurasian region.
In honor of the 22nd anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan and the 20th anniversary of the introduction of Turkmenistan, the Central Bank of Turkmenistan minted the 50-manat gold and silver commemorative coins and the sets of numismatic novelties.
The seminar «The Initial Steps Towards Accession to the World Trade Organisation» organized by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is being held in the Avaza national tourism zone. The seminar will last till September 20.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, during which Turkmenistan’s economic growth in eight months of the current year were considered.
