Meeting between the President of Turkmenistan and the President of the Republic of Tatarstan

On December 7, President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov arrived in Turkmenistan on a service visit.

After posing for official photographs against the background of national flags of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, in the hall for bilateral meetings in the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, the talks were held between the Turkmen leader and the high-ranking guest.

In the course of meeting, an interested exchange of views took place on unleashing new opportunities for diversification of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation. The energy sector, trade, economy, agriculture and tourism the parties sorted out as the priority areas of cooperation. Speaking of the importance of strengthening productive relations in the fields of mechanical engineering, energy and industrial complex, the Presidents spoke in favor of making efficient use of the reserves available. Particular attention was paid to expanding the deliveries of Turkmen products to Tatarstan, as well as the equipment produced in the friendly republic.

Another topic of discussion was cooperation in the humanitarian sphere between the scientific and educational centers, including participation in joint projects. The parties also welcomed expanding of the traditional cultural relations.

Sport was mentioned as an important area of bilateral cooperation in the context of preparations for the Asian Games 2017.

That same day, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan proceeded to the Turkmen capital’s international airport to leave Ashgabat.
