President of Turkmenistan convened a working video-selector meeting

On March 28, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov held a regular working video-selector meeting with participation of the Chairperson of Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the khyakims of velayats and Ashgabat city, and the Minister of Culture.

The meeting addressed the measures of socio-economic development of the country’s regions, as well as the progress of spring agricultural activities and preparation for the upcoming holidays.

The head of state first gave the floor to Ashgabat city Khyakim M.Abilov, who reported on the state of affairs in the capital, in particular the implementation of the large-scale city planning and new green zones creating program. The Khyakim also informed about the schedules cultural events program timed for the upcoming spring holidays such as “A water drop – a gold grain” and the World Health Day.

Emphasizing that the country’s main city should be a model in every respect, the head of state assigned to keep under constant control all the issues related to the Turkmen capital’s dynamic development in accordance with the present-day requirements. Focusing on the need for taking the comprehensive and responsible approach to organization of the upcoming festive events at high level, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov gave the Ashgabat city Khyakim concrete commissions in this regard.

The khyakims of velayats reported on the ongoing work in the regions, in particular, the course of cotton sowing and treatment of wheat and potato fields, as well as the measures taken to prepare for a lambing campaign at livestock farms. The governor of the country’s western region also informed about the progress of works at the velayat’s major construction sites.

The preparations for the festive events of April became a separate topic covered in the reports.

Summarizing the reports, the nation’s leader gave a number of instructions on well-coordinated and qualitative planting activities, and thorough treatment of fields sown to other important agricultural crops, as well as preparation of agricultural machinery for the beginning of a summer harvest season. The President of Turkmenistan demanded to take all necessary measures to ensure the high organizational level of the forthcoming holiday events.

During the working video-selector meeting, Mejlis Chairperson A.Nurberdyeva informed about the outcome of the thirteenth session of the fifth convocation of the National Parliament held on March 26, which resulted in adoption of 12 new laws. As was noted, all draft laws submitted for consideration by parliamentarians were developed taking into consideration the provisions contained in the Constitution of Turkmenistan and standards of international law.

Underscoring the focus on a great deal of work, which is carried out by the country’s Mejlis to improve and amend the active national legislation in accordance with the priorities of the state policy, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov expressed confidence that the enacted Laws and other normative-legal acts would facilitate the soonest successful implementation of all reform programs of the prosperous epoch of powerful state.

Minister of Culture A.Garajaev reported on the ongoing preparation for festivities to be organized on the occasion of declaring Dashoguz city as the cultural capital of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2016.

The nation’s leader expressed confidence that large-scale events in honor of granting Dashoguz city the status of cultural capital of the CIS would promote further expansion of international cooperation in this very important area, as well as strengthening of friendship between the neighboring countries. Moreover, they would create conditions for further popularization of the rich and unique culture of the Turkmen people, which were given new impetus in the Year of Honoring the Heritage, Reforming the Homeland. In this context, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov commissioned the Minister to ensure the high organizational level of all the upcoming cultural events.

Summing up the working meeting in the format of videoconferencing, the President of Turkmenistan once again stressed the importance of complex measures to be taken to tackle the tasks aimed at country’s further socio-economic development, and improvement of the people’s wellbeing.
