Joint session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and the State Security Council

On December25, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov held a prior-to-the-New-Year joint session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and the State Security Council.

During the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan gave a brief survey of the work accomplished over the current year.

As the nation’s leader noted, 49 Cabinet sessions, 13 meetings of the State Security Council, as well as 38 different state-level meetings were held in the running year; our country’s government delegation has made 17 foreign visits; Turkmenistan hosted  the visits of 22 heads of foreign states and governments.

The accounting period is notable for numerous meetings of President of Turkmenistan with official representatives of foreign states and international structures, including the ministerial meetings, meetings with the heads of international and regional organizations, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan,  and heads of various international corporations and companies.

Composite issues of political, economic and social character were considered at the meetings of the Cabinet of Ministers and State Security Council, as well as at the international-level meetings, which later took shape in the appropriate effective  resolutions and documents.

During the current year, we managed to accomplish an impressive body of work and solve numerous problems, the head of state continued. Almost everything we planned for 2015 was successfully implemented, and the next year’s weighed State Budget was adopted.

All social benefits for the population retained. Our nation enjoys free gas and electricity. Public utility charges remain to be small, and the measures are taken to prevent the commodities’ prices increase, the head of state said.

As President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov emphasized, in the current year, on our country’s initiative, the General Assembly of the United Nations unanimously re-adopted the Resolution “Permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan”. Moreover, the UN General Assembly adopted the Resolution on the formation of transport-transit corridors. Congratulating all the participants of the joint meeting on this achievement, the Turkmen leader declared that this was a huge success of the foreign policy and diplomacy pursued  by our independent state.

The Resolution on the formation of transport-transit corridors included the principal provisions of the Ashgabat Declaration adopted in September 2014, the nation’s leader mentioned.

On the proposal of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the first World Conference on creating a sustainable transport system to be held in Ashgabat is scheduled at the end of next year. In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan charged the Cabinet Deputies Chairman R. Meredov and S. Satlykov together with other vice-premiers and heads of ministries in the shortest time frames to prepare an Action Plan on implementing the Resolution and submit it for approval to the Cabinet of Ministers.

Despite the fact that the year 2015 was abundant in both negative and positive conditions of political and economic character, and for all countries the year was extremely difficult, we expect the GDP high growth rates, the Turkmen leader noted. Assessing the results of the outgoing year, we can confidently say that, in general, the year 2015 for our independent Motherland and the native people was one of the favorable years, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov highlighted.

Further, the head of state has announced that to create conditions for a comfortable rest of the population during the New Year’s holidays, the day off is carried over from Sunday (December27, 2015) to Saturday (January 2, 2016), and has signed the relevant document.

This year, celebration of the New Year in the country will last for 3 days. Therefore, it is necessary on these days to organize watch and guard work of all life-support services. The nation’s leader has commissioned the vice-premier S. Satlykov as Deputy Head of the State Emergency Commission to organize countrywide duty services at the appropriate level, and vice-premier S. Toilyev should provide assistance in this issue.

Addressing the heads of law-enforcement authorities, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov commissioned to ensure countrywide the rule of law and order during the New Year’s celebrations, so that citizens could safely and comfortably celebrate and rest on holidays.

Pending his speech, the head of state has underlined that next year we shall celebrate another glorious anniversary – 25th anniversary of independence of our young, neutral state. To make the event unforgettable in the memory of the people and in the country’s history, it is necessary to meet the 25th anniversary of independence with great achievements and successes in the economy, social sphere, culture and sports.

In this regard, it was proposed to hold the year 2016 under the motto “Year of honoring the Fatherland’s heritage and transformation”.

Addressing vice-premiers M. Yazmuhammedova and S. Toilyev, the head of state assigned to announce a competition for the best logo sketch of the jubilee year and the best one to popularize via mass media.

Some other important issues of state life were also considered at the meeting, and the appropriate decisions were adopted.
