President of Turkmenistan received the head of the Gagauz Autonomy

On March 23, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received Governor of the Autonomous Territorial Entity of Gagauzia (Republic of Moldova) Ms. Irina Vlah, who had arrived in Turkmenistan on an official visit.

Grateful for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to her on the Turkmen land, the guest heartily congratulated the Turkmen leader on the International Day of Novruz (celebrated two days before), a big, joyous festival, which embodies the triumph of life and encourages renewal and creation.

Having noted the spiritual and historical affinity of the Turkmen and Gagauz peoples, who share common ethnic origins, their mutual adherence and devotion to centuries-old traditions and customs, the head of state and Irina Vlah highlighted the parties’ deep interest in all-round development of the traditional cultural-humanitarian relations. In this context, it was stressed that representatives of Gagauzia, who are members of the World Humanitarian Association of the Turkmen, visit Turkmenistan regularly.

The guest indicated a complete readiness to establish closer trade-economic ties. The impressive composition of the delegation, led by her, serves as a vivid illustration. It included senior executives of leading enterprises in the region.

As informed, during the visit, members of the delegation held a number of bilateral meetings, including in the Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Union of Turkmenistan, some ministries and agencies of the country. The parties shared an opinion that there is a wide field for mutually advantageous partnership in a number of key areas, such as the trade-economic sphere, education, the fuel and energy sector, the health sector, agriculture and water sector, as well as joint projects implementation.

Deeply appreciative to the Turkmen leader of the consideration and all-round support on behalf of the Gagauz people, Irina Vlah, taking advantage of the opportunity, expressed special thanks for a truly invaluable gift – a kindergarten, which is being constructed in her native country under the patronage of the head of Turkmenistan.

Concluding the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and Governor of the Autonomous Territorial Entity of Gagauzia, the Republic of Moldova Irina Vlah expressed confidence that the talks conducted in a businesslike, constructive manner, would lay a solid foundation for deeper mutually advantageous cooperation.
