The President of Turkmenistan convened a working video-selector meeting
On April 11, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov held a regular working meeting by means of videoconferencing with participation of some Cabinet Deputy Chairpersons, the heads of a number of ministries and sectoral departments and the Khyakim of the capital to discuss the main directions of large-scale national socio-economic development programs ongoing in the country, and the issues related to formation of the modern transport infrastructure and intensification of international cooperation.
The head of state first gave the floor to Cabinet Deputy Chairman, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov. As the vice-premier, the foreign minister of the country informed, thanks to open-door policy carried out under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, effective relations are developing with different states of the world and authoritative international organizations, particularly with the United Nations.
The election of Turkmenistan to the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development in 2017-2020, the Commission on Population and Development in 2016-2020 and the Commission for Social Development in 2017-2021 became another confirmation of broad support for the foreign policy strategy pursued by the nation’s leader, due to which our country’s position in the international arena continues to strengthen.
A vivid example of our country’s fruitful partnership with the UN specialized agencies is also the implementation of 264 projects in various fields in accordance with the previously adopted Framework Programs.
Emphasizing the importance of extending cooperation with the authoritative organizations, especially with the UN, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov assigned the vice-premier, the Foreign Minister to hold a conference on this topic at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Laying stress on a role of the foreign policy establishment in fulfillment of the Turkmen side’s constructive initiatives aimed at ensuring steady progress of all mankind, raising our state’s prestige in the world arena, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov instructed the vice-premier, the Foreign Minister to take the effective measures in this area.
Further, Cabinet Deputy Chairman, Minister of Foreign Affairs R.Meredov informed the nation’s leader about participation in a regular session of Foreign Ministers of the CIS member states. As was noted, the meeting addressed the issues of partnership development in educational-scientific and healthcare sectors, and identified the concrete steps to achieve the priority goals.
Next speakers at a regular working video-selector meeting, called by the head of state were Cabinet Deputy Chairman, Manager of the Presidential Administration and the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Sh. Durdylyev and Minister of Energy D. Rejepov.
The vice-premier reported on the state of affairs in sectors he is in charge of.
Minister of Energy D. Rejepov reported on the ongoing work, as well as fulfillment of the earlier presidential commissions to expand production capacity of the relevant manufacturing facilities, as well as to increase exports of electricity.
Reporting on the measures taken to increase exports of electricity to Iran and Afghanistan, the minister informed that currently the volume of electricity delivered in these directions totals 470 megawatts-hour. Reporting on the work which is carried out on new export routes, the minister submitted the relevant schemes for consideration by the nation’s leader.
Having heard the report, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov emphasized the importance of taking responsible and comprehensive approach to solution of the tasks in connection with speeding-up the construction of electric power systems intended to electricity supplies to the neighboring countries, particularly to Iran and Afghanistan. The most concrete and efficient steps are taken to address the issues of construction of trunk transmission lines in such important directions as Pakistan and Tajikistan, the nation’s leader stated.
The head of state also demanded to pay special attention to the reliable and uninterrupted power supplies to the country’s velayats to meet the growing demands in all of them.
Further, Chairman of the “Turkmenavtoyollary” State Concern D. Amangeldiev reported on the construction pace of highways and fulfillment of the earlier presidential commissions.
In the framework of his report, the head of mentioned establishment demonstrated the diagrams showing the progress of construction works along the highways Ashgabat-Turkmenbashy, Ashgabat-Mary, Mary-Turkmenabat, Turkmenabat-Farap and Ashgabat-Dashoguz. As was reported, the high-speed highway Ashgabat-Turkmenbashy is being built at an accelerated pace, along which the relevant engineering systems, including bridges are constructed.
The report also covered the information about the practical steps taken to strengthen the material and technical basis of the industry. In accordance with the National Rural Development Program, which is successfully implemented in the country, and the General Ashgabat Development Plan, special significance is attached to roads building in the capital.
Summing up the report, the head of state underscored the priority focus of activities planned for the current year on the first Global Conference on stable transport system. Emphasizing the importance of works ongoing to establish our country’s international reputation as the large logistic center, the head of state drew attention to the priority goals set before this complex.
In the modern epoch, many motor roads are under construction, automobile bridges and terminals, built to the high international standards and with application of advanced technologies are put into operation in all regions of the country, the nation’s leader said.
Noting that the value of these facilities is beyond the national importance, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov emphasized their significance in relation to creating the regional and interregional transport corridors in such directions as “North-South” and “West-East”. In this context, the nation’s leader commissioned to study this question together with the khyakims of velayats for the future, and prepare the relevant proposals.
Calling Ashgabat city Khyakim M. Abilov to visual communication, the nation’s leader heard the report on work ongoing in the capital, the state of affairs at building sites where various-purpose projects are carried out, as well as the measures taken to keep cleanliness and beautify etraps.
Pointing to the need for active introduction of the advanced world experience into activities on provision of the necessary facilities in the country’s capital city, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov gave the khyakim some commissions.
Having signed the Order on sending Cabinet Deputy Chairman, Manager of the Presidential Administration and the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Sh. Durdylyev and Khyakim of Ashgabat city M. Abilov on a working trip to Singapore in order to study the experience in construction and architecture of free economic zones, the leader of nation gave concrete instructions in this respect.
Concluding a working meeting by means of videoconferencing, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov noted that all the addressed issues are aimed at country’s further dynamic socio-economic development, strengthening of international cooperation, and improvement of the people’s wellbeing.
